Furniture Care Guide
To help maintain the look and comfort of your furniture for years to come, please follow these guidelines, and you will be acting in accordance with our Terms and Conditions.
FABRIC UPHOLSTERY
All Harbro furniture includes an upholstery care label, which can be found on the base of modules or underneath your seat cushion. Please follow the manufacturers care instructions to lengthen the life of fabric. If you cannot find upholstery care label, please contact Harbro.
Vacuum fabrics on a weekly basis to remove dust, dirt, fibres or any loose feathers. Treat spills and stains immediately by dabbing with a water dampened colour-fast cloth. Do not scrub or use household chemical cleaners as this may alter the fabric appearance. For difficult stains, we recommend consulting a specialist upholstery cleaning service. Professional upholstery cleaning every 18-24 months will prolong the life and appearance of your upholstery.
Avoid placing furniture in direct sunlight or near heat sources (such as heating vents or fireplaces) as this may cause colour change and ageing of the fabric. Indirect light can result in fading. Taking precautionary measures such as closing curtains and blinds or utilising throws can minimise light exposure. For best performance we recommend positioning your furniture out of direct UV light.
CUSHION INSERTS & FOAM
Regularly shape and rotate loose cushions to maintain their shape. It is natural that cushion fillings will settle and seat foams will soften over time. Occasionally feather quills can pierce through the covers and they can be removed by pulling the feather out. Avoid inserts becoming wet when cleaning upholstery covers. If excessive moisture occurs, simply air dry the inserts before returning it the cover. Regularly air cushions.
LEATHER UPHOLSTERY
Leather is a natural product and characteristics such as scars, wrinkles, cuts and growth marks are common and reflective of a quality natural leather. These characteristics should not be considered a fault of the leather. Variations in colour, shading and texture are common, and can differ from display samples and hide to hide. Some softening and stretching of the leather is to be expected with use.
Avoid placing leather upholstery in direct sunlight or near heat sources. Ducted cooling and heating can impact the longevity of leather. Indirect light can result in fading. Taking precautionary measures such as closing curtains and blinds or using throws can minimise light exposure on leather.
Vacuum regularly with the soft brush attachment to remove dust and grit, then gently wipe with a soft, colourfast cloth lightly dampened with plain water. This should be done as often as necessary or at least every 2-3 weeks. Gently and immediately attend to any spills, to avoid staining. Do not use household cleaners, shoe polish or abrasives on leather. To treat difficult stains, we recommend contacting a specialist leather cleaner who can assist with regular treatment to prolong the life of leather appearance.
The salts and body oils which occur naturally in human skin can damage and stain the surface of leather if left uncleaned for long periods. In hot and humid weather it is important that leather be wiped over as often as weekly, particularly if the leather has become damp with perspiration or deposits of body oils are visible on areas such as head and arm rests.
